About Angela
Angela Pells is a painter and mixed-media artist based in Lumby, British Columbia, working in watercolour. Her contemporary landscape paintings explore atmosphere, restraint, and the emotional resonance of place.
Melding specific places with memory, she distills landscape into gesture and colour, allowing water, pigment, and absence to shape the final image.
Earlier works examined the built environment and the inertia of construction and urban planning. That interest in human environments as a reflection of collective momentum continues in her current practice, now expressed through quieter compositions and open horizons in natural spaces.
These landscapes are less representational and more about feeling — how space is remembered, inhabited, and imagined. They recognize something familiar without needing to name it.
